About Mom and Baby Shop

I had long thought about running my own business, but didn't take the leap to entrepreneurship until a few years later.  When it comes to starting a business, many people believe that you should pick something that you're passionate about and build a business around that. In my case, I have a lot of interests, but I could never seem nail down the one thing that I was that passionate about.  That is, until my son was born. From early in my pregnancy, I knew that I wanted to breastfeed, but I also knew I wouldn't have the benefit of my mother as a resource.  Due to a health condition managed by medication, she was unable to breastfeed my sister and I.  She was very supportive of my decision to breastfeed, however she didn't have the experience, good or bad, to share. For me, breastfeeding was a difficult journey with cracked nipples, plugged ducts and a painful weaning process, among others.  I am thankful that I had the help of some wonderful Lactation Consultants along the way.  But as I began talking to friends about their experience, the more I realized that there were many women like me who lacked a close, personal resource to help them through this challenging period.  We seem to be part of an entire generation relearning the skills for successful breastfeeding. Quickly, my interests in nutrition, the environment, and child development coalesced into a passion for supporting and promoting breastfeeding.  The business started out specializing in breastfeeding support products and has since grown to include cloth diapers, babywearing, colic relief, and more!  I also work with local lactation professionals, as well as state and national organizations to promote breastfeeding awareness and legislation. But what I enjoy most is providing moms with the resources they need to successfully meet their breastfeeding goals.  My mission is to provide a one-stop online experience for new moms that is helpful and gets you what you need, fast, to enable you to focus on what's important - your baby. We will be adding a lot to our site over the next several weeks, including the Resource Guide.  Please bookmark us, follow us on Twitter, and come back to visit us as we grow. In the meantime, feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
